DAY #27

Hi guys. You are awesome.
I truly think that...
Really!
Even the fact that you've taken the time to click on links to this place makes me happy.
And if you read it and you enjoy it, that makes me happy too...
Doubly happy!
Cheering people up (and spreading news on the infection) was my original aim for these updates...
Looks like after about a month, my goal has been achieved! So thank you, reader!
Every one of those little red photons entering your eye and being comprehended by your brain is making me feel good about myself...
Okay, well that's quite enough gratitude for one post. Back to being a sarcastic, vain, ultimately uncaring disembodied consiousness.
People: did they deserve to die? Now there's a controversial question if I ever read one.
A long time ago, humans were decent living things. We truly cared about other people.
Times were different back then. Those were the days when calling someone a 'bastard' was only justifiable if said person killed your wife.
Righteousness took priority over self preservation. People would go to extreme lengths to help out others in need...
And then something happened.
Overnight, the human developed a selfish side that flipped these lovely morals completely.
No more were the days of holding doors open or saying "how do you do"... The worst invention of all time had arrived...
Corporate mass-broadcast advertising.
Of all things mankind has ever created, I believe this has had the most damaging effect on the species and in fact, the planet.
Killing millions of empoverished people indirectly each year makes this profit-maximising device the very embodiment of evil.
Envy. Greed. Gluttony. Lust. Sloth. Wrath. Pride.
Do those ring any bells?
Of course they do. They're the seven 'deadly' sins. None of those traits are morally 'good'.
They describe behaviours that were considered enough to damn your eternal soul to hell in some religious groups.
They are natural emotions to have, but acting on them is generally considered to be wrong... Everybody knows that!...
Unless you work in the advertising department of a giant corporation. Then it's literally your job to emphasise and exasurbate these feelings.
Make people desire unnecessarily. Make them want what they don't need. Make them feel fake feelings.
Buy this washing up liquid and you'll be the envy of your friends! If you don't, you won't be liked... Pretty typical example.
Let's consider that for a moment. When was the last time someone judged you based on your choice of cleaning fluid?
Remember! It was only the other... Oh yeah. It was never. And it never will happen. That corporation just wants your money.
Designing ways to inspire the very sins I mentioned is an art form. We have become the 'marks' in the biggest con in the world.
Our individual needs are unimportant. Our background is unimportant. Our class or social position is unimportant.
The only thing that is important is that we have exploitable human attributes that can make an uncaring, greedy fat cat even fatter.
Caring civilisation as we once knew it was blown away when this immediate, immoral abuse of imperfections started up.
Our time of being nice was over. The commercial war for profits fatally wounded human good nature...
Mankind now just assumes those 'sinful' behaviours as a kind of default since we've been bombarded by them for so long.
Now we're all such wrathful, greedy, slothful, proud, lustful, envious and gluttonous bastards... I'm not sure we are worth saving.
Oh, my! Look at the time! This has been a long one... Sorry about that!
We'd better call it a day there. Lot's of stuff to buy tomorrow. Yours, sarcastically,
